Introducing the Racecomp Engineering Tarmac 2-RS

In early 2025, we released the T2-R competition dampers for the Subaru BRZ and STI models, as we recognized the necessity to develop a full competition/race damper for race sanctioning categories that don’t allow remote reservoirs.

Following overwhelming demand for a remote reservoir version, we went back to work with KW Race USA to develop and launch the T2-RS.

The RCE T2-RS damper is an inverted monotube, double-adjustable damper with remote compression valve and reservoir configuration. Reservoir pressures can range from 9 bar to 12 bar for improved vehicle platform. The improved platform, in conjunction with higher spring rates and advanced compression valving, increases support and stability for vehicles with higher aerodynamic loads. Both compression and rebound damping forces are independently adjustable, allowing precise chassis tuning.

Remote reservoirs increase the damper's total oil volume and surface area, which significantly improves heat dissipation and prevents damper fade during hard track use. They also house the advanced compression valve, which allows for more consistent damping adjustments and a greater range of adjustment for fine-tuning chassis behavior.

The T2-RS can be switched from a 2-way to a 3-way compression adjuster to fit class rules, ensuring the customer doesn't have to purchase a new set of dampers.

As these are Subaru-specific applications, we use a chromoly slide housing for additional strength and rigidity for the front strut assembly. Rigidity on MacPherson strut suspension systems is important for maintaining alignment while under load and improving durability. Since the strut is a structural part of the suspension, side loads and any flex will cause alignment changes, resulting in a reduced tire contact patch and less grip.

The design utilizes high-temperature Viton O-rings at critical sealing interfaces to reduce damper friction. The reduced friction results in a more precise damper and reduces heat build-up, resulting in consistent lap times on track. The rear damper is constructed of 7075 aluminum alloy to reduce unsprung weight, and both front and rear dampers come with motorsport-grade 20mm progressive RD40 bump stops.

Damping forces are controlled by 36mm front and 33mm rear pistons for precise, accurate control, featuring 12 clicks of compression adjustment and 18 clicks of rebound.

We have paid close attention to the requirements and demands of Gridlife “Street Mod,” Global Time Attack “Street,” and NASA “TT4” classes for our motorsports dampers.

Spring rates arecustom-specified at time of order, but generally range from 10kg to 14kg. Contact us to discuss your exact needs.

Options include dry break connectors, remote reservoir, piggyback canisters, and 3-way modular configurations.

Each set includes four coilover units with alloy upper mounts as well asallen key and spanner wrench for perch and damper adjustments.
